From October 15th, 2024, through January 17th, 2025. A surcharge will be applied to help ensure GLS can maintain the quality and reliability you expect, even when resources are limited. These surcharges will be applied to Special Handling, Oversized, Low commercial density area/Residential, and Overmax.
The surcharge will be reflected as an additional cost on all parcel shipments and applied in addition to other standard accessorial fees and surcharges.

Surcharge Description:
Special Handling: Any article that is not fully encased in corrugated cardboard or in GLS Canada-Approved Packaging, including but not limited to metal, wood, hard plastic, soft, plastic, or expanded polystyrene foam. Any cylindrical-like item, such as a barrel, drum, liquids, glass, pail, tube, or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard box or shipping container.
Oversized: A package with a length of 1.50 m. Beyond that, a length of 2.00 m (longest side) must not be exceeded.
Low commercial density area/Residential: An area that is primarily residential, or is of a low business (commercial) density as determined by GLS.
Over Maximum limits: Any package greater than 10 ft, or greater than 150 lbs, or greater than 165 circumference.
