Effective September 29, 2025 to January 18, 2026
FedEx has announced its Peak Season Surcharge schedule for 2025. These temporary fees are applied to oversized shipments and parcels requiring special handling to help FedEx manage increased parcel volume and operational pressure during the holiday rush.
Surcharges apply across FedEx Express Intra-Canada services, FedEx Ground Intra-Canada, and international Ground shipments.

Surcharge Descriptions
Oversize
Applied when a package exceeds:
96 inches in length, or
130 inches in combined length and girth
Billing is based on the greater of actual rounded weight or dimensional weight, with a minimum billable weight of 90 lbs (excluding express international shipments).
Additional Handling
Applied to shipments that require non-standard processing due to packaging, shape, or materials. This includes items that are:
Not fully enclosed in an outer container
Packaged in non-corrugated materials (metal, wood, plastic, canvas, leather, Styrofoam)
Wrapped in shrink wrap or stretch wrap
Cylindrical or irregularly shaped (tubes, drums, pails, tires, cans, barrels, buckets)
Secured with banding or containing wheels, handles, casters, or straps
Loosely wrapped or containing protruding contents
Capable of damaging FedEx equipment or becoming entangled in sortation systems
Unauthorized Package
Applied when a shipment exceeds FedEx’s maximum limits:
More than 108 inches (274 cm) in length
More than 165 inches (419 cm) in length + girth
More than 150 lbs (68 kg) in weight
Any package that expands or shifts during transit and exceeds these limits
Billing rules for unauthorized packages:
Packages under 90 lbs are billed at 90 lbs + surcharge
Packages over 90 lbs are billed at actual weight + surcharge
Dimensional weight rules apply, with a minimum billable weight of 90 lbs
