Shipping internationally means documentation matters. To help reduce delays at the border and support more predictable cross border delivery, ShipTime now allows you to store and attach customs documents directly to your international shipments.
This gives operations teams better control over compliance while keeping shipment setup efficient and repeatable at scale.
Managing your Customs documents
ShipTime includes a dedicated Documents page under Settings - Documents, where you can upload and manage commonly used trade documents, including CUSMA or USMCA certificates.
Storing documents in advance allows teams to reuse approved files across shipments, reduce manual rework, and maintain consistency across couriers and destinations.

Adding a document to an International shipment
For supported couriers*, an Add Document button is available within the International Details section of the shipment flow. Documents are attached at the product line level, giving you precise control over how each item is documented.

Step 1: Attach a Document
Click Add Document within the product line. A list of stored documents will appear. Select one or more existing documents or upload a new file as needed.
Correct document classification helps couriers and customs authorities process shipments accurately.
NOTE - Ensure the correct Document Type is associated with the document - CUSMA/USMCA, Certificate of Origin or Other

When uploading a new document, be sure to assign the correct Document Type, such as:
CUSMA or USMCA
Certificate of Origin
Other supporting documents

Step 2: Review Document Attachments
Confirm that all required documents are attached to each product line. Add additional products and documents as needed to fully reflect the shipment contents.

Step 3: Finalize the Shipment
Once all documents are in place, complete the remaining international shipment details and proceed to Finalize and Pay.
Supported Couriers and File Formats
Electronic document submission is currently available for DHL, FedEx, and UPSc, where applicable.
PDF files are recommended, as they are accepted across all supported couriers. JPG and other formats may not be accepted and could result in processing issues.
